For the first time in its 136-year history, this year St Aloysius College welcomed a co-educational year 7 intake, with term one off to an exciting start.
All whilst navigating a new curriculum and making new friends, year 7 students kicked off the year with their first ‘Opening of the School Year Mass’ at St Patrick’s Cathedral, experienced their first school camp at Benloch and had a great time at their first interhouse swimming carnival.
Noting the exciting commencement to the school year, College Principal Mary Farah said the cohort has been “exemplary in their behaviour and have moved into secondary education with maturity and a great sense of curiosity.”
“We not only welcomed a vibrant new co-educational cohort but have also seen an expansion of our overall subject offerings and co-curricular opportunities.”
The core curriculum for junior years is underpinned by the Universal Learning Program (ULP) and mindfully enriched with a broad range of electives, including languages (French, Italian and Japanese), music, art, drama and design.
Once progressing to years 10 to 12, students are supported in pursuing their desired life path, with year 10 students given the opportunity to embark on accelerated VCE courses.
Senior year students are offered a vast range of subjects to nurture their passions and prepare them for tertiary studies or employment, with options across languages, sciences, humanities, mathematics, creative and performing arts, and design.
The expansive curriculum at St Aloysius is complemented by a broad selection of co-curricular offerings, including a spectacular sport program, music ensembles, college musical production, sustainability and social justice clubs, learning extension and language clubs.
With the recent release of the college’s strategic intents and masterplan documents, visions of the future development of the college’s North Melbourne site are now solidifying. The first major works will commence in 2025 with the construction of a six-storey standalone senior years campus.
Enrolment at St Aloysius College is now open for year 7 2025 and, with further information and campus tour bookings available via the College website: www.aloysius.vic.edu.au
